Asian shares nosedived on Monday after the meltdown Friday on Wall Street over U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff hikes and the backlash from Beijing. U.S. futures also signaled further weakness. The future for the S&P 500 lost 2.5% while that for the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 2.1%. The future for the Nasdaq lost 3.1%. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index lost nearly 8% shortly after the market opened. By midday, it was down 6% at 31,758.28. A circuit breaker briefly suspended trading of Topix futures after an earlier sharp fall in U.S. futures. Chinese markets often don't follow global trends, but they also tumbled. Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 9.4% to 20,703.30, while the Shanghai Composite index lost 6.2% to 3,134.98. South Korea's Kospi lost 4.1% to 2,363.82, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 3.8% to 7,377.70, recovering from a loss of more than 6%. Oil prices sank further, with U.S. benchmark crude down 4%, or $2.50, at $59.49 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, gave up $2.25 to $63.33 a barrel. In currency trading, the U.S. dollar fell to 146.70 Japanese yen from 146.94 yen. The yen is often viewed as a safe haven in times of turmoil. The euro slipped to $1.0926 from $1.0962. On Friday, Wall Street's worst crisis since COVID slammed into a higher gear. The S&P 500 plummeted 6% and the Dow plunged 5.5%. The Nasdaq composite dropped 5.8%. Market observers expect investors will face more wild swings in the days and weeks to come, with a short-term resolution to the trade war appearing unlikely. Nathan Thooft, chief investment officer and senior portfolio manager at Manulife Investment Management, said more countries are likely to respond to the U.S. with retaliatory tariffs. Given the large number of countries involved, "it will take a considerable amount of time in our view to work through the various negotiations that are likely to happen." "Ultimately, our take is market uncertainly and volatility are likely to persist for some time," he said. The losses came after China matched President Donald Trump's big raise in tariffs announced last week, upping the stakes in a trade war that could end with a recession that hurts everyone. Even a better-than-expected report on the U.S. job market, usually the economic highlight of each month, wasn't enough to stop the slide. So far there have been few, if any, winners in financial markets from the trade war, and China's response to the U.S. tariffs caused an immediate acceleration of losses in markets worldwide. The Commerce Ministry in Beijing said it would respond to the 34% tariffs imposed by the U.S. on imports from China with its own 34% tariff on imports of all U.S. products beginning April 10, among other measures. The United States and China are the world's two largest economies. A big fear is that the trade war could cause a global recession. If it does, stock prices may need to come down even more than they have already. The S&P 500 is down 17.4% from its record set in February. Trump seemed unfazed. From Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Florida, he headed to his golf course a few miles away after writing on social media that "THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO GET RICH." The Federal Reserve could cushion the blow of tariffs on the economy by cutting interest rates, which can encourage companies and households to borrow and spend. But the Fed may have less freedom to move than it would like. Fed Chair Jerome Powell said Friday that tariffs could drive up expectations for inflation and lower rates could fuel still more price increases. "Our obligation is to keep longer-term inflation expectations well anchored and to make certain that a one-time increase in the price level does not become an ongoing inflation problem," Powell said. Much will depend on how long Trump's tariffs stick and what kind of retaliations other countries deliver. Some of Wall Street is holding onto hope that Trump will lower the tariffs after prying "wins" from other countries following negotiations. Trump has said Americans may feel "some pain" because of tariffs, but he has also said the long-term goals, including getting more manufacturing jobs back to the United States, are worth it.

जागरण संवाददाता, पटना। Bihar Weather: प्रदेश के मौसम में आज से बदलाव के आसार हैं। मौसम विज्ञान केंद्र पटना ने प्रदेश के अन्य हिस्सों में सात से 11 अप्रैल तक गरज-तड़क के साथ वर्षा की संभावना जताई है। सोमवार को किशनगंज, अररिया एवं सुपौल जिले के एक या दो स्थानों पर गरज-तड़क के साथ 40-50 किमी प्रतिघंटा की गति से हवा चलने की संभावना जताई है।

मौसम विभाग ने जारी किया यलो अलर्ट

इसे लेकर मौसम विभाग की ओर से यलो अलर्ट जारी किया गया है, जबकि सीतामढ़ी, मधुबनी, मुजफ्फरपुर, दरभंगा, वैशाली, शिवहर व समस्तीपुर इलाकों में हल्की वर्षा के आसार हैं।

राजधानी समेत अन्य भागों का मौसम सामान्य बने होने के साथ आंशिक रूप से बादल छाए रहने के आसार हैं। नमी में वृद्धि होने से उमस का प्रभाव बना रहेगा।

मंगलवार से पटना में बदलेगा मौसम

वहीं, मंगलवार से राजधानी के मौसम में बदलाव आने के साथ गरज-तड़क की चेतावनी है। मौसम विभाग के पूर्वानुमान के मुताबिक पश्चिमी हिमालय में वेस्टर्न डिस्टर्बेंस की सक्रियता व विभिन्न घटकों और पूर्वी हवा के कारण नमी में बढ़ोतरी हुई है। इसके कारण मौसम में मिजाज में बदलाव के आसार हैं।

22 शहरों के तापमान में इजाफा

उत्तर मध्य व उत्तर पूर्व बिहार के अधिसंख्य जिलों में 10-30 मिमी वर्षा की संभावना है। रामनवमी के मौके पर पटना सहित 22 शहरों के अधिकतम तापमान में वृद्धि दर्ज की गई।

पटना का अधिकतम तापमान 39.2 डिग्री सेल्सियस, जबकि 40.8 डिग्री सेल्सियस के साथ गोपालगंज में सर्वाधिक अधिकतम तापमान दर्ज किया गया। राजधानी व आसपास के इलाकों में दोपहर में लोग गर्मी से परेशान रहे। शाम में बादल छाए रहने के कारण उमस का प्रभाव बना रहा।

प्रमुख शहरों के तापमान में वृद्धि

औरंगाबाद के अधिकतम तापमान में एक डिग्री, गोपालगंज में 1.3 डिग्री, सीतामढ़ी के पुपरी में 2.3 डिग्री, मोतिहारी में 1.2 डिग्री, खगड़िया में 1.3 डिग्री, पटना में 0.2 डिग्री, अरवल में 0.6 डिग्री, सासाराम में दो डिग्री, बक्सर में 3.5 डिग्री, फारबिसगंज में 1.2 डिग्री सेल्सियस की वृद्धि दर्ज की गई।

एएनआई, नई दिल्ली। राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू पुर्तगाल की राजधानी लिस्बन पहुंच गई हैं। यह यात्रा पुर्तगाल के राष्ट्रपति मार्सेलो रेबेलो दे सूज़ा के निमंत्रण पर हो रही है। यह द्रौपदी मुर्मू की पहली यूरोपीय यात्रा है, जो दोनों देशों के बीच मजबूत होते रिश्तों की ओर इशारा करती है।

राष्ट्रपति मुर्मू का लिस्बन एयरपोर्ट पर भव्य स्वागत किया गया। पुर्तगाल के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों और भारतीय समुदाय के प्रतिनिधियों ने उनका गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया।

जागरण, नई दिल्ली। दिल्ली समेत उत्तर भारत के कई राज्यों में गर्मी का असर साफ देखा जा रहा है। दिल्ली में ही रविवार को अधिकतम तापमान सामान्य से 3.1 डिग्री अधिक 38.2 डिग्री सेल्सियस तक पहुंच गया। कुछ यही हाल पंजाब का रहा। बठिंडा में अधिकतम तापमान 39.7 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया।

दिल्ली और पंजाब में सोमवार से लू चलने का पूर्वानुमान है। मैदान के साथ ही पहाड़ी राज्यों में भी गर्मी का असर दिखाई पड़ रहा है। अप्रैल के पहले सप्ताह में ही पहाड़ भी तपने लगे हैं। हिमाचल और उत्तराखंड में कई जगहों पर तापमान 30 डिग्री से ऊपर चला गया है।

दिल्ली में 41 डिग्री तक जा सकता है तापमान: IMD

राजधानी दिल्ली में रविवार को आसमान साफ रहा और दिन भर तेज धूप भी देखने को मिली। मौसम विभाग का अनुमान है कि सोमवार को आसमान साफ रहेगा। मौसम में नमी की मात्रा कम होने से लोगों को गर्म हवा के थपेड़ों का अहसास होगा। अधिकतम एवं न्यूनतम तापमान क्रमश: 41 और 21 डिग्री रहने की संभावना है। इसी तरह पंजाब में कई जगहों पर अधिकतम तापमान सामान्य से छह डिग्री तक ज्यादा दर्ज किया गया। पटियाला में रविवार को अधिकतम तापमान 38.4, लुधियाना में 38.1, फरीदकोट में 38, चंडीगढ़ में 37.4 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया।

मौसम विभाग के अनुसार 10 अप्रैल तक पंजाब के दक्षिणी और पश्चिमी हिस्सों में तापमान 40 से 42 डिग्री सेल्सियस तक पहुंचने की संभावना है। हिमाचल, उत्तराखंड में भी पारा चढ़ा हिमाचल प्रदेश में मौसम विभाग ने सात व नौ अप्रैल को अधिकतम तापमान में दो से तीन डिग्री तापमान में वृद्धि होने की संभावना जताई है। प्रदेश के चार जिलों कांगड़ा, कुल्लू, मंडी व सोलन के कुछ हिस्सों में गर्म हवाएं चलने की संभावना है।

10-11 अप्रैल को मौसम विभाग की भविष्यवाणी

मौसम विभाग ने 10 और 11 अप्रैल को हल्की वर्षा और हिमपात की संभावना जताई है। रविवार को प्रदेश के 12 स्थानों में अधिकतम तापमान 30 डिग्री सेल्सियस से अधिक पहुंच गया। वहीं अगले एक-दो दिन के भीतर प्रदेश के 20 से अधिक स्थानों पर अधिकतम तापमान 30 डिग्री सेल्सियस से पार होने की संभावना है।

वहीं उत्तराखंड के दून समेत ज्यादातर क्षेत्रों में अधिकतम तापमान 36 डिग्री सेल्सियस के पार पहुंच गया है, जो कि सामान्य से करीब पांच डिग्री सेल्सियस अधिक है। हालांकि, मंगलवार से प्रदेश में मौसम का मिजाज बदलने के आसार हैं। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार, मंगलवार से पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों में हल्की वर्षा, मैदानी क्षेत्रों में गरज के साथ बौछार व अंधड़ चलने की आशंका है।
